Nils van Breugel is an artist in a long Dutch tradition. With an expressive style. His art expresses his perception of everyday life. Things that affect him, bother him, things that inspire him. You might experience joy. Confusion. Or even unease. His paintings are filled with emotions. Go ahead. Allow his paintings to affect you.

The paintings of Nils have been out of range of the earthy art-radars for some time now. For a long time he has been painting dark paintings, playful paintings, confronting paintings, fairy-like paintings. Out of sight, in a house in the center of Delft, surrounded by cat and girlfriend.

Now it is time to show his paintings to the world. To show the world his way of representing emotions, his way of seeing things. His first exposition was September 26th of 2009. Scary, and yet addictive. His art is for sale now through www.primeshapes.com. And he is preparing his next exposition.

When Nils was young he always wanted to become a jetfighter pilot. Travelling with blazing speed towards freedom and adventure writing his own name in the sky. After he finished his study Applied Physics and several jobs as an employee in ICT business, he took the first step towards freedom. Not by becoming a jetfighter pilot. By starting his own business. And by taking his art work more serious.

A grand theme in Nils’ life is “balancing and rebelling”. He shocks the sensitive viewer with dark subjects. While at the same time his art can’t be labeled “shocking” because of his jokey subjects. He is both rational and emotional. He alternates rational brain exercise with emotional explosions. Nils’ ideal life is a life in which art and technology go hand in hand. In other words: He dreams of making Primeshapes a success.
